Hello there! My name is Gwendolyn Snowdon and let me tell you a little bit about me and my passion: Ghost of a Gipsy.
It all started one day when I took an old pair of jeans out of my wardrobe that I hadn’t worn in ages and I had to figure out what to do with it. I remembered a tutorial that I’d once read in al old girly magazine from the 70s that showed you how to make a skirt out of an old pair of jeans. Instead of ripping the inner seams however, I just cut off the legs and sewed stroke after stroke of some fabric I had lying around, resulting in a hippie like skirt. I was hooked! Many skirts followed and eventually I began to apply the technique to other clothing as well.
It’s time to upcycle your clothes!
Soon after Ghost of a Gipsy was born! My mission is not just to sell clothes but to inspire people to start upcycling their own clothing. There’s so much that need not be thrown away! Also, when you do buy a Ghost of a Gipsy Piece, feel free to keep adding your own touches to it to make it all your own!
Ghost of a Gipsy started out with mostly skirts, but quickly went on to use all kinds of old clothing. Sometimes I add embellishments and leave it at that, and sometimes I completely change the piece into something else (for example, I’ve been know to make country dresses out of mens’ shirts;o)
Aside from Ghost of a Gipsy I divide my time between my two folk bands: the Dutch Lemmings and Finvarra, in which I play the bouzouki and sing and working at Archeon, a historical themeparc in the Netherlands.
